WarnerMedia Dominates Inaugural ContentAsia Awards Sweeping Six Wins

HBO Asia’s Food Lore and Invisible Stories Bag Best Drama Series And Best Asia Drama At ContentAsia Awards; Cartoon Network and CNN Score Another Three to Make it 6 Wins from 8 Categories

WarnerMedia channels dominated the inaugural ContentAsia Awards held in Singapore today, 28 August 2020, with six wins in eight categories. HBO Asia’s Food Lore and Invisible Stories won three awards collectively, while CNN International had two wins and Cartoon Network bagged another.

Food Lore, HBO Asia’s eight-episode, hour-long, gastronomical series helmed by Singapore’s Eric Khoo, won two awards. The series, which explores the human conditions with narratives inspired by Asian cuisines about food from around Asia, won in the Best Asian Drama for a Regional/International Market category, while Erik Matti, the director of the Philippines episode Food Lore: Island of Dreams, won the Best Director of a Scripted TV Programme award.

HBO Asia’s gritty and realistic series helmed by Singaporean Ler Jiyuan, Invisible Stories, won the Best Drama Series/Telefilm Made for a Local Asian Market award. Each of the six half-hour episodes shines light into dark corners and tells untold stories of residents navigating through everyday life and its challenges from the heartlands in a fictional neighbourhood housing estate in multi-cultural Singapore. The series stars Yeo Yann Yann, Devin Pan, Wang Yu Qing.  

The Best Animated Kids TV Programme went to Cartoon Network’s Monster Beach - It Cone From Outer Space. Follow the frightfully funny adventures of surf-siblings Jan and Dean as they enjoy an endless summer vacation with a bunch of mischievous monsters. In this award-winning episode, the cone Mutt wears around his head to stop him from scratching picks up radio signals and he realizes he has to save Monster Beach from an impending alien invasion.

Among other WarnerMedia’s wins are CNN International’s Inventing Tomorrow: Tech in a time of Pandemic for Best Covid-19 Factual Feature and Borneo is Burning for Best Current Affairs Programme.
